About Society Towards Equitable Programs and Services
The idea for STEPS was first sparked in 2022. At the time, we were developing a new community-based program while researching knowledge sharing between communities and universities. We realized we could achieve our common goals through a community-led non-profit organisation.
In the spring of 2023, we founded STEPS to develop, incubate, and deliver community programs and foster equitable relationships between communities and institutions (such as universities, health authorities, or businesses). Our work is grounded in our shared vision, mission, and values.
Our Values
Equity
We stand for equitable health care and social services by working towards barrier-free and just treatment and service delivery options for individuals and communities.
Person Centered
We are committed to putting people at the centre of our work by shifting ownership, control, and choice to those pursuing health and well-being.
Transformation
We persist in promoting opportunities for change that make equitable health care and social services possible
Integrity
We hold ourselves accountable by acting with transparency, respect, and honesty in our words, actions and relating with others
Community Engagement
We value the diverse voices of different stakeholder groups and the insights and relations that can grow from bringing our paths together.
Our Mission
To develop, evaluate, and deliver programs and services that advance equitable health care and social services for those living with impacts of ageing/old age or disability.
Our Vision
A society with equitable health care and social services.
